Experience Evaluation
Academic requirements are set at a baccalaureate level. Some college programs meet that requirement. Click below, to find out which college courses would be acceptable.

APPLY FOR AN ACADEMIC EVALUATION
Candidates who have completed a formal education and feel that they meet our academic requirements can apply to or be evaluated by AOLS or by the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveying (CBEPS).
Already in College or University?
- The most direct route is pursuing a university degree program in geomatics engineering, specializing in surveying.
- This comprehensive education prepares you for a successful career as a professional surveyor.
- Transfer from a college or another university program to a recognized program in geomatics engineering.
Ontario welcomes internationally trained applicants.
Our legislation, regulations, standards, training, etc. are all delivered in English. Without sufficient English skills it would be difficult to obtain the necessary knowledge required to successfully pass the requirements to become an Ontario Land Surveyor. If your degree/diploma was earned in another country, you must first apply to either the Comparative Education Service (CES) of the University of Toronto, or to World Education Services (WES) and request a “document by document” evaluation from one of these services to submit with your application to the AOLS. The WES website is https://www.wes.org/ca.

SEE WHAT YOU CAN APPLY FOR
The first step for all candidates for membership is to apply to the Association (to the Registrar) for a detailed evaluation of their post-secondary education and experience.
